For a lot of young people, prom is one of those milestones you look forward to for months. The outfit, the photos, the fuss. But for some children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, a traditional school prom just isn’t something they can be part of. The crowds, the noise, the unfamiliar setting: it can all be too much.
At Stable Futures, we decided that no one was going to miss out.

A Day to Remember
Our young people arrived in smart suits, elegant dresses and plenty of sparkle, ready to celebrate alongside the Stable Futures team. Even the horses were dressed in their best finery for the occasion.
But the day was about so much more than dressing up. It was a chance for our young people to celebrate everything they have achieved, and to show their families the difference Stable Futures has made to them.

Why This Mattered to Us
Rachel Redgwell, director of Amegreen Children’s Services, said: “Every child deserves the chance to celebrate life’s important milestones. We know that for some of our young people, attending a mainstream prom simply isn’t possible. That’s why creating this event was so important to us.
“Seeing our students arrive looking so proud, confident and excited, and watching families share in those special moments, reminded us why inclusion matters. These are memories that will stay with our young people and their loved ones for years to come.”
More Than One Special Day
The prom is just one example of what we set out to do at Stable Futures every day. As an Alternative Provision run by Amegreen Children’s Services, we give children and young people a calm, nurturing place to learn away from the pressures of a traditional classroom.
Through equine-assisted learning and time spent outdoors with our horses and small animals, every child is supported to make academic progress, build confidence, develop life skills and enjoy the experiences many young people take for granted.
